medication and consultation.

them to attend high school.
- Connect with the technical institute in Haiti to encourage
students to learn a trade and enable them to become

Methods
|
- On September 9, 2002, we opened UCS to welcome the needy
children of Haiti. We have the necessary qualified teachers and
volunteers for the operation of the school. Although it was
difficult to limit the enrollment, we accepted 130 students,
grades pre-kindergarten to grade 6.
- 2003 - 2004 enrollment increased to 200 children and a 7th
grade was added.
- We will approach a sister school and arrange for the students
to donate school supplies for their Haitian counterpart. This will
not only reduce our fixed costs, but it will be a nominal way for
children to contribute. Moreover, the children will reap the
rewards of intercultural understanding while practicing the values
of the church.
- Our hope is for the Haitian children to feel a personal
involvement in their school. We will implement an art program
where the students will learn to be creative and do traditional
Haitian crafts.
- After school sports - we will establish a soccer team and ask
for donations from other teams for equipment.

Evaluation
|
- Students: The students are encouraged to accept their
academic responsibility seriously and to appreciate the school as
a haven - a shelter from the hardships of their daily lives.
- Teachers: Each teacher will be required to evaluate
their classes and implement a portfolio of teaching methods.
- Directors: Members of the Board will travel to Haiti to
observe the progression of the school to ensure the administration
and program is operating effectively. These trips will also enable
transportation of supplies and necessary items to the school.
